Untangle Appliances UT-NG 2000+

The Untangle Appliances NG 2000+ is the latest cooperate installment in the NG series appliance line. The NG 2000+ is designed for businesses with 2000 or  more users with extremely heavy spam and virus traffic. The NG 2000+ has all the features of NG 2000 but has more horsepower to run a larger network. The NG 2000+ is dual wan capable, bridge mode fail over capable*, and is also capable of 10GB Ethernet speeds*.

Features

7x Intel Pro 1000 Network Interfaces - Every NG series appliance comes standard with 7 Intel server grade Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Every NG series appliance is dual wan ready right out of the box.

Integrated Disaster Recovery System - The integrated disaster recovery system is one of the features we are most proud of. With this integrated system in place, we have taken disaster recovery and survivability to an entirely different level. The system utilizes a  boot-able storage device that is integrated on the main board.The integrated disaster recovery system allows administrators to take snapshots of the appliance hard disk and save them for later restore use. Should an hard disk failure or system corruption occur in the future, the administrator can boot the disaster recovery system and restore the system using the stored image. The process is very fast and takes only minutes to complete. The system is accessible from the grub boot menu or can be booted to directly in the event of a drive failure.

Dual Bypass Segments - The NG 2000 appliance comes loaded with dual LAN bypass segments. LAN bypass allows Untangle bridges to "fail open" in the event of a power loss, hardware failure, or system kernel lockup. Tiny magnetic switches physically bridge the network interfaces together to form a hub. This allows network traffic to "pass through" the appliance uninterrupted in the event of a failure. The fail open process happens automatically and does not require any user interaction. Bypass technology allows for highly available, fault tolerant Untangle installations where high network up time is required.

LCD Display - The NG 2000 features an 16 char. by 2 line LCD that displays vital appliances statistics. These statistics include: Processor usage, memory usage, hard disk usage, network I/O, and system up time. The LCD has 4 buttons that allow you to perform certain system functions right from the LCD screen. These functions include: reboot, shutdown, enable bypass, disable bypass, start automatic bypass mode, and backup Untangle configuration  to integrated DR system. The functions are programmable and can be customized to your needs.

Headless Operation - Every NG series appliance is designed to operate headless, meaning it does not require a keyboard, monitor, or mouse. Video is still accessible at the rear of the unit, and a USB KB/Mouse can be used as well.

Console Port Access - We built in a serial console port that will allow you to access the system bios, grub boot loader, and restore system right from a serially connected laptop or workstation.

Speed and durability – The NG series appliance has shown in our testing to be the fastest appliance we have ever built. In our tests, we have been able to sustain WAN speeds of 125 Mb/s without breaking a sweat. While stress testing the NG series we were not able to make it stop routing traffic.
